Crucifixion & Resurrection - Levi

Oh, what a sad and miraculous it has been lately! Jesus' prediction about a disciple betraying Him came very true, when one of His very own, Judas turned Him in. From there Jesus was arrested and taken captive by the Roman army. So much happened in that time span, not only did Judas betray the Son of Man, but Peter denied Him twice! The Lord had predicted this would happen too. As soon as Jesus was arrested we followed the crowd into town to see the last glimpses of Him. I witnessed with my very own eyes His disciple Peter deny the Lord in front of the crowds of people. It was very disheartening to see. From various people I gathered that Jesus was treated cruelly by the soliders, for they beat and mocked Him without ceasing. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him... They made Jesus carry His own cross all the way to Golgotha, and we followed close behind, trying to hold back the remorse and tears. Watching our Lord in such a sad state was unbearable.  They crucified Him and a few hours later he took his last breathe, giving up His spirit. All of Jesus' followers, including the disciples and myself, were completely hopeless and confused. He was not supposed to die, He was supposed to save us.

As we mourned for two days, the Sabbath was approaching and I heard that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. That is when the women encountered an angel who said, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." As they were running to tell the disciples as the angel had said to do, they were greeted by Jesus!! Yes, He is alive and risen! When Jesus appeared to the disciples they were frightening and could not believe it. Once I saw Him with my own eyes, I knew that this was the true Savior, and not even death could stop Him. This has greatly increased my faith and now I know, that He is with me always.
