The Last Supper
Hello, this is another update of my following of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I have left my shop, everything I own and my way of life to follow this man. I tell you he is no ordinary man. I followed him to Jerusalem during the time of Passover. I was careful to not follow too close as I am still afraid of approaching him. He went to the city of Jerusalem with his followers, they went up into the house and closed the door behind them. I had to see what was happening somehow. I saw a window that was high above my head on the side of the house. It was too tall for me to peer into but I was determined to find a way. On another side of the house I came across some clay pots. There were many ones of different sizes. I picked up the biggest there was and placed it right under the window. I warily pulled myself on it, afraid that it would break. It was barley tall enough for me to look inside if I stood on the tips of my toes. I peered inside and saw Jesus with his disciples reclined against a table. They were eating when Jesus began to spoke. He said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” There was a commotion among them as they all wondered who it would be. They all began to yell out that surely it was not them. One of his followers leaned in toward him and whispered, “Surely not I Lord.” Jesus leaned in toward him, whispering something back that I could not hear, suddenly however the man to whom he spoke became quite pale. They continued to eat and after a while, Jesus took some bread, gave thanks for it and broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” At the time the vase I stood on gave away and shattered into a hundred little pieces. Afraid that the noise had alerted them I ran quickly to an inn nearby where I stayed the night. Once there I was confused at the things that just happened. This man had just claimed to form a new covenant. He forgave them of their sins. Did he just make claims that would be as if he claimed to be…God?
