Mark 5 - He can cast out demons!

After we had landed across the sea with Jesus, we entered into the country of the Gadarenes. I sent my father a letter yesterday. I told him in great detail all that I had seen and much of what Jesus had said in the hopes of strengthening his faith. In Gadarenes there were many pigs, one of which I was considering slaughtering so as to have a delicious dinner. This may be off topic but despite Jewish customs I have always had a love for good pork. In addition, I find the surprised looks I get from people who see me eating to be very comical. None the less, while we were there Jesus saw a man who was being controlled by a demon come out of the nearby tombs. No human was able to control this man. No amount of chains or shackles could keep him from breaking free. This was a bit frightening at first but Jesus immediately called the spirit out of the man and asked the demon his name. The spirit responded with Legion, saying that he was one of many. To everyone's surprise he asked Jesus to allow them to enter into the nearby pigs that I mentioned earlier. Jesus agreed and all two thousand demons took over the swine. Then all the pigs stampeded into the sea where they quickly drowned; their fat bodies washing up dead on the shore. The people who owned the pigs were very scared by what had happened and went and told everyone in the surrounding city. I know this is true because large numbers of people came to see the man who had been possessed. Now that the demons were no longer controlling him, he was completely sane and a rather nice person; extremely grateful to Jesus for helping him. After the people had seen the man they came to Jesus telling Him to leave the area. I do not understand why the people would not let us stay after Jesus had helped the man. Jesus agreed to leave so we all loaded up into our small vessel. The man whom Jesus had helped desperately wanted to come with us but Jesus refused because he wanted the man to go tell his friends of what God had done for him. It saddened me to see the man go but I knew Christ's will is for the better good.
