Lydia, The Last Supper

Last night was Passover. At this point, many people went back home to their families to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread. I couldn’t go home, something pulled me to stay, so I did. Jesus and his disciples went to some person’s house to celebrate. I really wanted to go with them but Passover celebrations are a private thing and I didn’t want to impose on them with my presence, to awkward. Also, I haven’t exactly been the best Jew in the world and when I participate in any celebration/holiday, I feel extremely guilty.
So, instead of having Passover, I listened to Passover. (Yes, I admit I was stalking…) I was outside, sitting under one of the windows of the house that the men were in. I listened in to what they were saying and could hear what they were doing. It reminded me of when I was a little girl, eating the Passover lamb. I tried my best not to peek, so I didn’t really get to see what they were doing.
I heard them give the Passover prayer and begin eating. All of a sudden, Jesus said that some one would betray him. I don’t exactly know what he meant by that to be honest. Maybe he was talking about money, maybe he had a secret that they only knew about, maybe it was about the religious leaders (they have been mad at Jesus since day one). Whatever it was, it was very serious. The disciples began to lose their composure. They began trying to figure out who it was, each asking Jesus “Is it I?” Then I heard someone get up. A few seconds later, I saw one of Jesus’ disciples leave, I don’t know who though.
After a little bit, Jesus prayed and then he said “Take, eat; this is my body.” Okay, at this point I had to peek! Cannibalism is frowned upon in this society! But when I looked, I saw that he was passing out bread to everyone. They all had confused looks on their faces, but they ate the bread. Jesus then took a cup of wine, prayed again, and said “Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my father’s kingdom.” As they all began to drink the wine, a guard spotted me! I started running, the Romans scare me!
Eventually I ran far enough and got a chance to think about what I just saw.
Eat my body, drink my blood? Why is he advocating cannibalism? A new covenant? What’s wrong with the old? Where is he going that he says he wont be able to drink with them? What does he mean by “my father’s kingdom”? He’s a carpenter from Nazareth, his father is Joseph! Why is he saying that his blood/wine can take away our sins? He’s human!
What is this man up to?
