John 6 Post, Jimmy

John 6

I am Crispus, eldest son of my father, of Jewish descent, from the town of Capernaum. I am following Jesus the Messiah. I have packed up my belongings, plus my goose Ahkkmedd, and am travelling around Israel wherever Jesus is.

Now Jesus is at Bethsaida, near the Sea of Galilee. Today, many, many people brought their families to hear Jesus; there were 5000 men, plus women and children! We all gathered around Jesus as He sat on a hill with His disciples and taught the people, healing their sick. It was amazing to see Jesus, God Himself, healing people who had been sick for ages: there was Eustace, the cripple up the street, Dorcas, the blind old woman, and George, the child with the pigeon feet. All of them were healed!

At one point, a little boy who was following Jesus next to me started whining for food. Growing weary, I gave him 5 of my barley crisps to make the little boy be quiet. Other people were getting hungry, too, and soon the crowd began to murmur for food. Sensing a business opportunity, I went to fetch the bags of barley crisps from Ahkkmedd’s back. Ahkkmedd was eating them, with only crumbs still in the bag! Enraged, I swiped at the goose, but he honked at me and kept eating.

By now the crowd was becoming ominous. Fearing for my goose, I stuffed him in my tunic, causing me to appear hunchbacked, but saving the bird. I saw the disciples had seen the situation, and asked Jesus to do something. Then the boy brought those barley crisps to Jesus, plus some dried fish the boy had pilfered off of someone else.

I wasn’t sure what was about to happen, but I guessed Jesus was about to do something impressive. I was right. Jesus took the bread crisps and fish, blessed them, and began to pass them around. I was pretty far in the distance, but I saw that people were eating far more than the original quantity. Jesus had multiplied the crisps and fish! The food made its way around the crowd, with every person eating as much as he or she wanted. Even Ahkkmedd felt safe enough to emerge and eat some fish and bread.

This miracle convinced me even more Jesus is the Messiah. But some people seemed to be following Him for this sort of thing; many people didn’t listen, but wanted to watch the show.

I follow Jesus because He is the Messiah.
